Should I water the grass during the day time when it is hot and when the grass is most thirsty. This will ease their thirst and help them get through the burning sun and prevent them from crisping. Or should I water the grass in the silent of night when the grass is cool. The water won't dry as quickly and will have the opportunity to seep into the roots. But the grass isn't thirsty at night and would probably be more happy swimming in the water right at noon. Maybe the best time is to water them at dusk to have the best of both worlds, but then again if you water them at dusk there are so many more hours before the sun comes out and many of the chemical reactions that require water and sun will be lost.
Remember one thing, indecisiveness killed the grass. Some things in life shouldn't be over analyzed. Sometimes it is good to have the 'just do it' mentality. My motto as always: SUABALB - sack up and quit being a little bitch. Do it.

Why not water 3x/day? early morning, afternoon and night? j/k.
I decided to water my grass at midnight every night, except stupid Fresno has watering days so I can't water everyday. It's friggin' 100 degrees here, the grass will die if we don't water it everyday. I'll just pay the fine.
There are "watering days" in Fresno? Are they trying to conserve water?
I think u r not suppose to water the grass during noon time when it's the hottest. It will kill the grass as if u r cooking the grass in the sizzling hot pot.
if you're wondering when to do it, just look at when the experts do it... usually you'll see the city/parks/etc watering either early in the morning.
and i think kaini's right... i think the droplets refract the light into little prisms that burn the blades of grass if you water during the middle of the day. and you'll also lose more water to evaporation.
ok - just now googled it... http://www.allaboutlawns.com/lawn-maintenance-care/watering/when-is-the-best-time-to-water.php
"Always try to water your lawn in the early morning. By early morning, I'm referring to around 5 a.m.! This is the BEST time for watering, bar none. Early morning watering is best due to: the lack of evaporation that takes place, low winds that can blow you lawn dry, high humidity and morning dew that adds to the moisture. Early morning watering helps to prevent lawn diseases that can be caused by watering at night because it gives your lawn time to dry by night fall. Obviously, this can be best accomplished with a sprinkler system, unless you just can't sleep, especially during the summer months."
